Review: Magma Plus

Magma Plus is made by the same people who make Green Magma. This formulation is their super green drink with a variety of greens and veggies. In fact, they put everything imaginable in there with a focus on barley grass, wheat grass, alfalfa, and veggie powders (carrots, cabbage, beats and others). There is an acceptable amount of what they call “whole food extracts,” which is mostly a selection of healthy fillers (chicory root, wheat germ, brown rice).

Magma Plus also contains an excellent selection of natural herbs, including coix (a Tibetan herb used to help regulate digestion and liver function), licorice, milk thistle, Echinacea, ginseng, astragalus, green tea, ginger, reishi mushroom and several others. I love seeing Echinacea and reishi in green drinks, and not many formulators include them.

Top off the formula with a fruit blend, some bee pollen and royal jelly (I love seeing these additions too), and a little stevia for sweetening (not for everyone, mind you) and you have an excellent, well-rounded formula that costs about $3.60 per ounce, which makes it one of the best deals going.

Manufacturer’s Description

Magma Plus contains a significant amount of barley grass juice powder (1.8 grams per serving), which gives it the nutritional properties of Green Magma “plus” the many benefits of the most healthful fruits, vegetables, plants, and herbs. It contains many beneficial phytochemicals collectively that support digestion, liver function, cardiovascular activity, and promote energy levels.

Unlike many stimulants, Magma Plus is a natural energy booster containing important nutrients required to produce the cellular source of energy, ATP.

  • Barley grass juice powder, fruit and vegetable extracts, American Ginseng, and Eleutherococcus, naturally energize your body and mind.
  • Gingko biloba, magnesium, and lecithin help to promote healthy muscle and nervous system function.
  • Beta-carotene, bilberry, grape seed extract, flavonoids, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E are antioxidants that help prevent oxidation due to free radical activity.
  • Ginger root helps stimulate digestion and milk thistle extract promotes liver function.
  • Echinacea may help support the immune system.

Slightly grassy. Slightly fruity. Slight taste of stevia.

A wide variety of greens and veggies with an even wider variety of special herbs and a few excellent surprises, like reishi, American ginseng, and Cat’s Claw…all for a good price.

Not everyone will want the “everything but the kitchen sink” approach, but those who do will like this mixture. Also, not everyone will like the stevia sweetener.

Wow, been drinking Magma Plus for about two years now and our latest shipment tasted WAY different.
Have they changed the formula? It’s darker, grassier and less sweet like they left out the royal jelly.
Thanks, TD.
